‘This gulf’: James McFadden makes observation about Steven Gerrard’s Rangers and Celtic (Via HITC)

James McFadden has suggested on BBC Sport that the gulf between Steven Gerrard’s Glasgow Rangers and Neil Lennon’s Celtic and the rest of the teams in the Scottish Premiership is massive.

The former Scotland international striker made the observation about Rangers and Celtic while the Old Firm duo were in action in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday evening.

McFadden pointed out the substitutions Rangers manager Steven Gerrard and Celtic boss Neil Lennon made during their respective games.

McFadden told BBC Sport: “The scorelines we've seen Celtic and Rangers this season - the fact that Alfredo Morelos has just scored a double and they've brought on Jermaine Defoe, and Scott Brown has gone down and Celtic have brought on Olivier Ntcham. It just shows you why they're racking up these scorelines and why this gulf between the rest is so huge.”

Title race

Both Celtic and Rangers won in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday evening, as the Bhoys and the Gers remain in stiff competition for the Scottish Premiership title.

The Hoops are at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 28 points from 11 matches, level on points with second-placed and bitter Old Firm rivals Rangers.

Although Celtic remain the strongest team in Scotland, Rangers are going strong under manager Gerrard and will give the Bhoys a run for their money for the rest of the season.
