Ross Wilson is looking ‘increasingly likely’ to become Rangers’ new director of football with Southampton set to plan for life without their long-serving transfer chief, according to the Daily Echo.

The Gers are looking to fill the void left by the sudden departure of Mark Allen recently and Wilson appears to have emerged as the prime target, despite turning down the chance to work at Ibrox two years ago, as reported by The Express.

The Sunday Post claimed that there was a potential problem facing the Scottish Premiership giants with Southampton owner Gao Jisheng potentially unwilling to part with a man who has been a key to helping The Saints establish themselves in the Premier League over the last five years.
