Dundee United fans should enjoy Lawrence Shankland while they can.
Because a striker with a goalscoring record as remarkable as this is bound to attract attention from clubs higher up the footballing pyramid. And, according to the Daily Record, scouts from both Celtic and Rangers were at Tannadice on Saturday as Shankland took his tally to 15 goals in 12 games this season already.
A hat-trick in a 6-0 thrashing of Morton means he has 13 in just seven Championship matches with two close-range tap ins showcasing his brilliant movement before a wonderful individual effort highlighted a side to his game which often gets overlooked.
Now, Dundee United aren’t exactly angling for offers. They are understandably desperate to keep their star man and top scorer as they look to secure a return to the Premiership at long last.
But an offer in the millions could be almost impossible to turn down in January, particularly as The Arabs snapped up Shankland on a free in July after 62 goals in just 73 games at Ayr United.
Celtic and Rangers have money to spend and a title to compete for – this is a rumour that isn’t going away any time soon.
My only worry about Shankland is come January and transfer talk gathers pace he might go off the boil at least let's hope he stays for the season.

not a chance shankland is going anywhere this season, promotion is worth more than any transfer fee.

We’ll be fine unless he has a release fee (which I imagine would be high if so). Think Shankland would be happy to wait until the summer and have more options too. https://t.co/auYmZ6rpZA

Nope. 20 million

3 million pounds price tag for Lawrence Shankland in January should chase away any vultures.
— Tek (@TekelTowers) September 29, 2019
Double that for The Rangers.
In fact don't sell to them at ANY price.
Let's get our club back.⚫⚪
I wouldn't even sell him for that. Not this season. Not for all the tea in China.

It would be stupid to sell him before hopefully getting promotion this season. If he continues his form and gets us up then leaves for a handsome fee I wont complain. Like others have said we just need to enjoy him whilst he is here

How about 10 million

Never have I felt more blessed to have a player at our club
