Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers and Celtic will renew hostilities in the Scottish Premiership again next season.
Rangers' number two Gary McAllister has admitted to The Scottish Sun that he was initially shocked to learn about Steven Gerrard's appointment at Ibrox, and revealed that he is "grateful" to Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers for previously giving him a job.
The Gers raised eyebrows in British football last month by hiring Gerrard on a four-year deal, in spite of the fact the former Liverpool youth coach had never managed a senior team before.
Upon taking the role, the new Rangers manager hired McAllister, who had previously been hired by Celtic's Rodgers during his stint in charge of Liverpool.
The legendary Scot only worked with the Northern Irishman for a few months prior to Rodgers's sacking back in 2015, but McAllister has stressed his gratitude for the Hoops chief and believes the Ibrox club's decision to sign Gerrard was a "no-brainer".
