Since signing for Rangers in the January transfer window for what is believed to be around £250,000, Alnwick has failed to make so much as one appearance for the first team.
However, due to Foderingham's performance against Celtic, this looks set to change. Alnwick, aged just 23, is eager to get his first team start for Rangers, and after playing 31 times for Port Vale in the first half of this season, you can't blame him for wanting game time at Ibrox.
Alnwick's signature in January, gave Matt Gilks the opportunity to leave Rangers, which he all too happily took. The trouble is, Foderingham has had some exceptional spells of form, literally keeping us in some games.
However, against Celtic, Foderingham simply didn't cut it. Celtics second goal came from a Leigh Griffifths strike, which Foderingham was late to react to, resultantly helping the ball into the net. Foderingham, when on form, would have made the save and cleared the ball with ease, just as most keepers would.
When conceding 5 (a record) number of goals against your bitter rivals whilst at home, as a keeper, your place will be in jeopardy. Up next for Rangers, is Sunday's clash against Partick thistle away.... That's three Glasgow derbys in three games... And what I would like to ask you is: Would you risk starting Alnwick?
