Do you remember the Ghana defender - Rashid Sumalia - who was one of the first players to be linked with Rangers since Pedro Caixinha has came in? Well there apparently has been a development according to Ghanasoccernet.
You'll recall that we had Craig Houston- a former board member of Club 1872 - writing in his article that it would be near impossible for such a player to ever pull on the famous blue jersey due to the fact that he would fail to ever qualify for a work permit.
Now at the time, Ben and I both thought that this was a word of reason, despite all the excitement surrounding a new transfer signing.
Scrolling through my daily search of Rangers news, I stumbled upon this one from Ghanasoccnet, who have said this regarding Sumalia:
"According to the Daily Mail, Rangers remain interested in signing Al-Qadsia defender Rashid Sumaila – but concerns over his work permit situation mean that they could look elsewhere. "
The Ghana international has only ever made appearances in Africa and while he has played for his national side, he has not played enough times, with only making 6 appearances.
His latest move to Qadsia SC is a club in a long list of teams you have never heard of, which again would not act in his favour should he try to apply for a work permit.
Now this does not seem like news to us but I thought I would share nonetheless.
Who else would you target to be a defender for Rangers?
