My Rangers Ratings (v Aberdeen 17/05/17)

Well there you have it, a 20 year record has went out the window tonight, pretty much like this Season. Rangers were outplayed for most of the first half and tried to put up a fight in the second half. The final score was 2-1. Here are my thoughts on individual performances:
Wes Foderingham (9/10)

Easily kept Rangers in the game, without a doubt. Rangers, who by the time Hodson was taking off, had a backline with the average age of just 20, was all over the place. Foderingham kept the youngsters in the game.

Again the Englishman was a standout performer, much like the whole season in all honesty. The first goal he could do nothing about and the second goal was a good targeted header in the top corner, leaving him with no chance. Throughout the match though he made some superb saves and without Fod, it could have been 4 or 5 nil.

James Tavernier (5.5/10)

Again Tavernier has came up short, not only as a defender but as an attacking threat as well. Not good enough. However I suppose that has been said more than once about more than one player in the team. A big question mark must be over his Rangers career and with another very average performance, which will do nothing to help matters.

David Bates (6/10)

Bates, who has came into the team in recent weeks, was completely over run in the first 20 minutes before he calmed down on the ball. I suppose having young Aidan Wilson did not help matters. He was not helped by the fact Toral was awful in front of him either.

Aidan Wilson (6.5/10)
The youngster was thrown in at the deep end tonight and to be honest he managed to put in a decent performance. I was encouraged in the early moments when he dominated Adam Rooney, heading the ball out.

The rest of the game seemed to be easy enough, after the two goals went in, Aberdeen rarely threatened. The second half some chances came Aberdeen's way but Wilson dealt with them pretty well. All in all, despite the scoreline, it was a decent debut from the U20s player.

Lee Hodson (4/10)

Barely managed to get a foot into the game before getting injured on the 17th Minute. Replaced by Myles Beerman.

Kenny Miller (6.5/10)

The Miller man tried and tried but could no manage to find that killer ball. Kenny played in a deeper role tonight and had very little effect on to the games proceedings. This was no fault of his own, desperately running around trying to gain possession for the Gers. We did see one cross in the box, a trademark of Kenny's, however there were no takers.
Jon Toral (3/10)
This man was in a different time zone he was that slow. He was not fit and was the reason Rangers lost their first goal. No tracking back, no desire and no spine. Much like the whole team this season. Awful. Should have been subbed off MUCH earlier.
Josh Windass (6.5/10)

This would have been a 7 although one through ball to assist Martyn Waghorn was the highlight of a rather dismal performance. He ran around a lot, although struggled to beat most players for pace. Could see Josh getting loaned out next season.

Joe Dodoo (4/10)

Subbed at half time for the goalscorer Waghorn. Nothing much to report, mostly a passenger for the first half. Not of Rangers standard, yet. Will either be loaned out or sold next season, however he may play better with better service and if he is given a chance through the middle.

Joe Garner (5/10)

The man cut a lonely figure upfront. No service with both Dodoo and McKay not crossing any balls into the box. Did try and win a few header and antagonise the defenders, although that is not going to win you football matches.

Barrie McKay (4/10)

I forgot McKay was playing until 20 minutes into the match. Apart from a snap shot at goal from a blocked ball, nothing much came his way. Bullied out wide and never really made any inroads from an attacking position. Never impressed the whole match. An empty shirt. He is another who's future is in doubt, blowing hot and cold for most of this season.

SUBS
Martyn Waghorn (7/10)

Scored the goal which put Rangers back in with a shout. Made some decent runs and offered something different up front. Still not the answer though to our goalscorer problem.

Myles Beerman (6.5/10)

Played not too bad after replacing Hodson early in the first half. Made a clever run into the box and should have scored to put Rangers level. Another decent performance from the former Man City player.

Jamie Barjonas (6/10)

Although he was only on the pitch for half an hour, he played 100x better than Jon Toral. He never hid from a challenge and looked composed on the ball. Another youngster to keep an eye on.
